My Journey is laid out unique to other sites you may have used before. In this article, we'll cover a high level overview of the system, including the following topics:
- Site navigation
- Content structure: Outcomes, Goals and Steps
- Updating your personal information
- Using a screenreader on the site
Note that terminology may vary between sites. The below processes are detailed for all application users and as such, some of the language and functionality may not be applicable to your site. For specific articles tailored to your site, please click here.
How do I navigate through My Journey?
The navigation menu is available at all times on the left-hand side of the screen. It can be collapsed, to allow more room to work, or be expanded to see the menu titles.
The home page provides quick access to videos, resources and upcoming events. Get caught up on the basics of the platform, see what’s new, and register for upcoming webinars.
All the information you provided during account setup is available within your account (noted by your initials). Some questions from Outcomes and information from Tools use are also located here for quick reference. This page allows you to change your personal settings including notification preferences, preferred language and goals. It is divided into sections for quick navigation and can be updated at any time. As your goals and needs change, keeping your account up to date alerts the system to provide new, tailored recommendations to you. All updates are automatically saved.
The My Journey page contains your Outcomes and all the Goals and Steps within them. Here is where you will spend the bulk of your time. Steps may link to external tools and resources, require work to be completed and uploaded, or guide you through a reflection. All of your work is automatically saved.
Though tools are linked to within Steps on the My Journey page, they are also available within the Tools menu. Many of these tools are also ungated, meaning no log in is needed to make use of these resources.
The Help Center is available 24/7 and is full of FAQs, how-tos, and additional resources to help along the way. With each update to the platform, the Help Center is expanded to ensure that users have the support they need.
My Journey content structure: Outcomes, Goals and Steps
Outcomes, Goals and Steps make up the hierarchy of My Journey.
An Outcome is a high-level objective that encompasses an array of actionable and trackable items, guiding you along your Journey. This includes items that have dependencies on one another or items spanning various components of work. My Journey has a wide variety of available Outcomes that are tailored to your needs, desires, and stage of life.
A Goal is between an Outcome and a Step, grouping a set of actionable pieces of work within a common theme. Goals are denoted by an icon to differentiate them from one another and are displayed in the header at the top of the application to give you a sense of accomplishment upon completion. You can select only those goals that you wish to work on right now.
A Step is an actionable piece of trackable work that you can complete in one sitting. Steps can include activities such as uploading documents, speaking with a guidance counselor or case worker, or completing a task on an external tool.
