How do I sign up for My Career?

Please note: your implementation may not have My Career. Please contact PAIRIN if your organization would like to learn more about My Career.

What should I do if I didn't receive an email confirmation from My Career?

We’re sorry for the delay! Let’s get you into your account.

First, double check your spam folder to see if the email was sent there accidentally. If you find it, great! Click the link in the email to take you into My Career. 

If you don’t find the email there, you can have an additional email sent. Go to the sign in page and click “Forgot Password” to send yourself another email.

The system will then prompt for your email address. Enter your Email Address and then click “Send Password Reset Link.”

A new screen will appear that informs you an email has been sent with reset instructions. Navigate to your email and open the password reset email. Click the “Reset Your Password” button within the email. (If you did not receive the email, continue reading).

Enter your new password twice. Passwords must be at least 8 characters and contain a capital letter, lowercase letter, symbol, and number. The colored bar will show your password strength. When you have completed your password, click the “Create Password” button.

You will then be taken into your account.

If you are using an organization email (e.g., school or work email), your organization may have a firewall or other email filters set up to block outside traffic. In this case, you have a couple options. First, you can work with your IT department to whitelist our email address. This will allow the account confirmation and password reset emails to come through to all users with your organization email. Alternatively, you can create a new account in the system with a different email address.

How do I reset my password for My Career?

Your password is created during account setup. If you forgot your password, click “Forgot Password” on the sign in page.

What is a Career Cluster?

Career Clusters are groups of careers and jobs that share common factors, helping you to explore similar careers based on your preferences and skills.

What is the PAIRIN Skills Survey?

"Soft" skills include qualities such as determination, problem-solving, creativity, and interpersonal skills. These skills are critical to long-term career success. 

The goal of the PAIRIN survey is to help you understand your skill level so that you can improve your soft skills. Unlike tests at school, this survey does not have right or wrong answers. Rather, it will assess how certain skills and mindsets appear when you work and relate with others. Select words from the list that describe how you are most of the time. Be honest and complete the entire list (it is long!). If you stick with it, the survey will give you a unique understanding of yourself in contrast with others.

Do I need to fill out everything to get career matches?

You don’t need to take every survey to see career matches, but the more you take, the more refined your matches will be to your skills, experience, and interests

What if all of my matches are “low matches?”

Do not fret! This could be a number of things, including how the algorithm weights each of the four input surveys. If you’re a student without the necessary education history (yet) or work history (yet), it may indicate the matches are low. That’s okay! Use this to explore and find careers that interest you that you may want to pursue in your education and work.
